Playlist of The Day (4/29/2012)

If you’ve read my piece in “Men’s Fitness” already, you know my biggest tip is that headphones are a guy’s best friend.  I’m an early riser (up at 4 AM, at the gym by 5, at the office by 7:30), so I need to prepare playlists that best fit the routine for that particular day.  At first, I just had a four hour playlist and I learned that it just gets repetitive and boring as hell, which is what led me to create individual/carefully selected playlists that are shorter and more focused.

The basic design goes like this:

  • A song to stretch to (usually around 5 minutes long)
  • A handful of songs for your warm-up (around 10 minutes, since I like to do a bit of cardio to get the blood flowing before I lift)
  • An hour and half’s worth of songs to pump me up!

Since today’s my rest day, I’ll go ahead and share what I used yesterday.  As a cardio day, it goes slightly against my usual list.  I did some cardio and threw in outdoor crossfit-type moves to mix things up (I LOATHE static forms of cardio, as you’ll learn from future posts).

Without further ado…

  1. “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)” – AC/DC
  2. “Legendary” – Wale
  3. “Jailbreak” – Thin Lizzy
  4. “They’re Not Horses, They’re Unicorns” – Bayside
  5. “Whatever” – Godsmack
  6. “I’m On A Boat” – The Lonely Island (ft. T-Pain)
  7. “In Waves” – Trivium
  8. “Under My Umbrella” – Incubus
  9. “Fight For Your Right” – Beastie Boys
  10. “Runaway” – Linkin Park
  11. “Power” – Kanye West

Do you have any favorites on your iPod/iPhone/iWhatever?  Feel free to share them in the comments section!

Don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Girl Talk – All Day but its really awesome! A little over an hour it’s great especially if you’re going for a long run.

I have friends of mine who have been recommending I listen to Girl Talk for the longest time! I’ll give them a listen. Thanks, Nicole 🙂
